Welcome to our Tummy Tuck Page.

Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is one of the most common cosmetic procedures. The purpose behind a tummy tuck is to remove excess fat and skin from the stomach area while tightening the abdominal muscles, leading the appearance of a flatter, more toned abdomen. This is a particularly popular surgery for women who have had multiple children, as they may wish to combat the stretching effect that childbearing has had on their stomach area. Tummy tucks are also effective at treating stretch marks along the abdominal region.

During a tummy tuck, the patient is placed under general anesthesia, and a small incision is made on the lower abdomen, or bikini line. While the scar from this incision generally fades in time, it is permanent, and may be more noticeable in some patients than others. Once the incision had been made, the cosmetic surgeon works to loosen the abdominal muscles and skin in order to reposition and secure them in a tighter position.
Patients considering this procedure have the option of receiving a full South Beach tummy tuck or a mini tummy tuck. A mini tummy tuck involves a singular incision, while a full tummy tuck involves an additional incision around the belly button area. South Florida Mini tummy tucks typically treat stubborn bulge and stomach fat which is located low in the abdomen, while a full tummy tuck addresses the entire abdominal area from the navel downward.
The recovery process varies from patient to patient. While those who have undergone a mini tummy tuck can expect a shorter recovery, most patients report moderate to severe discomfort and tenderness in the abdominal area. Patients are often given some sort of medication to help control pain levels, and are encouraged to remain on bedrest for a week or two. It is particularly important to keep the incision site(s) clean and to change the bandages frequently to guard against infection.
