Making the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery is something that should not be taken lightly. While it is true that plastic surgery yields very visible results, it is also important to keep in mind that these results come after a recovery period that may be quite uncomfortable. Generally speaking, the more invasive a procedure is, the more time it will take for the bruising, swelling and pain levels to go down. Many patients are opting for non-surgical cosmetic procedures as an alternative to full-blown cosmetic surgery.

Non-Invasive Cosmetic Procedures

Patients undergo a face-lift procedure to decrease visible signs of aging in the face and neck. A number of non-surgical alternatives to having a facelift are available as well. These include Botox injections for tightening skin, dermal fillers to replace volume in key areas as well as laser treatment. Botox is commonly used to eliminate wrinkles, crow’s feet and furrows between the browns, whereas dermal fillers are commonly used in the cheeks or lips.
Likewise, patients who are considering liposuction may wish to try a less invasive method of fat loss and/or cellulite reduction first. CoolSculpting relies upon freezing fat cells through a topical procedure that does not require any kind of anesthesia. The extreme cold temperatures penetrate and kill fat cells. While this procedure does not yield the immediate results that liposuction does, it requires almost no recovery time at all, and does eliminate fat cells over time. Ultrashape utilizes ultrasonic energy the same way that CoolSculpting uses cold temperatures. Again, the results are not immediate, but the procedure is relatively painless, and usually achieves maximum results after three treatments.
